Mbeje - LILIZELA

South African Maskandi musician Mbeje has introduced LILIZELA, a song featured on his 2026 album IMMUNE SYSTEM. The recording appeared on several South African music platforms on October 9, 2026, while an album report identifies October 7 as the project's release date. Positioned as the sixth track, LILIZELA forms part of a collection that expands the artist's recorded material within the traditional Zulu music scene. The isiZulu expression Lilizela is associated with ululation, a celebratory vocal tradition commonly heard during weddings, cultural ceremonies, and other important occasions. Although the song's complete lyrical message remains unverified, its title introduces a culturally recognizable expression that may interest audiences familiar with South African traditions. <Cite refs={["turn919053search2","turn919053search3"]}/>

The project contains eight distinct recordings and reflects Mbeje's continued involvement in Maskandi, a genre traditionally characterized by guitar-based arrangements, expressive isiZulu vocals, and storytelling influenced by personal experiences and community life. Its cultural foundations have helped preserve musical practices associated with Zulu identity while allowing contemporary performers to introduce their own creative approaches. The album has been described in music coverage as incorporating string instrumentation and poetic Zulu expression, although detailed production credits and the specific musical arrangement of LILIZELA have not been independently established. Its inclusion provides another opportunity to explore the singer's artistic direction within the wider collection.
